HOW TO INSTALL A SOLAR BOTTLE BULB IN YOUR HOMES

Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), MyShelter Foundation’s latest venture, is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide.


HOW TO INSTALL A SOLAR BOTTLE BULB IN YOUR HOMES:

Step 1Cut a hole on the roof, similar to the bottle circumference

Step 2Place the solar bottle bulb into the hole. Make sure it is firmly in place

Step 3Drill 4 holes on each side of the solar bottle bulb using Bosch lithium-ion cordless drill and put in the rivets

Step 4Apply rubber sealant around all edges of the GI sheet of the solar bottle bulb to avoid leakage. Make sure to cover the rivets

Step 5Place a protective plastic tube on the bottle cap and apply rubber sealant

Eat Sumo Japanese Restaurant is the home of authentic Japanese foods and cuisine in Baliuag, Bulacan. Though the restaurant already closed down for awhile now, it doesn't mean that you cannot take a bite of their best selling sushi & maki....

Eat Sumo To Go now accepts pre-orders for Nov 1. 

I don't know if they accept orders for your own special occasions but if you try and is persuasive enough... you might just get yourself a whole bunch of sushi and maki for your events!

The X Axis

Let's keep this short and straight.
I don't have feelings for him anymore but since my phone reminded me about the place and date we "should" meet today... that I can't go anymore... I think ONE last blog post about him would be enough to honor our relationship before and to make him know that I've already forgiven him.


Yes, I'm ready for FRIENDSHIP. Actually, all that I have now and all that I've become... I owe him. If not to him, I wouldn't even be HERE. So, thanks.

How to make your very own SOLAR BOTTLE BULB

Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), MyShelter Foundation’s latest venture, is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide. 



Materials: 
- PET soda bottle
- Galvanized Iron (GI) sheet
- Rubber sealant
- Bleach
- Filtered Water




Step 1Cut approximately 9 x 10 inches of GI sheet (corrugated or flat)

Step 2At the center of the GI sheet, draw 2 circles (outer: similar to the circumference of the soda bottle; inner: 1 cm smaller). Cut the inner, smaller circle

Step 3Cut the 1 cm difference radially, making strips and bend upwards, perpendicular to the GI sheet

Step 4Using sandpaper, scratch the surface around the upper third portion of the soda bottle where the GI sheet will be placed, to allow the rubber sealant to stick better

Step 5Insert the bottle into the GI sheet until the upper third. Apply rubber sealant on the strips above and around the area below. Then, wait for it to dry.

Step 6Fill the soda bottle with filtered water and ~10 mL (2 capfuls) of bleach. 

Cover it with its original cap.

Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), MyShelter Foundation’s latest venture, is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide.

• Designed and developed by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
• A Liter of Light is a program inspired by many innovations from around the world. 
• Many cultures  used glass bottles to allow lighting through the roof.
• Alfredo Moser (Brazil) was the first to experiment with plastic bottles using this method.

The Philippine model has a slight modification but what must be emphasized is the amount of people whose lives are being affected by this innovation.

Vision

Do you know that millions of families still live in the dark? 

MyShelter Foundation aims to brighten up one million homes in the Philippines by 2012.

According to statistics from the National Electrification Commission in 2009, 3 million households still remain powerless outside Metro Manila. And even in the metro, families still continue to live in darkness. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has reported that a large number of fire- related incidents involve faulty electrical connections. Informal settlements are high-risk areas, since the BFP does not conduct fire hazard inspections in these communities. MyShelter envisions sharing to unprivileged communities an economically- and ecologically-sustainable source of light that will provide an immediate solution to our fellowmen’s problems.

MyShelter Foundation was established by Illac Diaz to create a system of sustainability and reliability through its capability-building and employment-generating projects. No Title Yet [Suggest a TITLE, will you?]

It was a beautiful Wednesday morning. He knocked at my door wearing his favorite #5 purple jersey that, he says, he only wears when his favorite game is on. 


Looking neat and his hair has grown since the last time I saw him. No moustache again, so he pretty much looks like 5 years younger than me. I opened the door. He greeted me with a short, Hi. I replied a smile. Who needs words in moments like these? He’s here. That’s what’s important, he’s here. 

We went inside; he gave me a bag of my favorite chocolates. Glad that it wasn’t candy this time. We walked and still no words are uttered… it’s like those scenes in silly chick flicks with violin serenades on the background, too dangerous to fill words this perfect scene.

We continued walking, our feet bringing us to the bedroom… No, we won’t make a scene. The next scene should go this way I would lie in bed. He would browse through my laptop and tell me, it’s too “girly” to break the silence in between. I will smile and ask, “Don’t you like it?” He will smile back.

But this time, he didn’t. After I lie on my bed, he went beside me, wrapped his arms around me. It’s all silence again. Now it’s my turn to break the ice. This silence is reaching zero degrees. But before I said a word, I heard a very familiar song… “party like… Party like it's the end of the world… We gonna party like, like it's 2012.” My daily alarm was singing. Grabbed it and tapped dismiss. When I look back, he was gone. Found a message on my phone, “I can’t come.”

Tinkerbell: You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you.
