Annually, Muslims celebrates Eid’l Fitr, the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This important event usually falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. It’s a time of joy, forgiving and thanksgiving among Muslims as they take the occasion to strengthen ties with family and friends, give gifts and zakat (alms), and feast together. Here in our country, Republic Act No. 9177 declared Eid’l Fitr a national holiday.

This year, instead of having this celebrated within the ARMM Region where most Muslim communities reside, the Eid’l Fitr Festival goes to the metro and takes centerstage on August 24-26, 2012 at The Block, SM City North EDSA, Quezon City.

The annual national cultural event of Eid’l Fitr Festival is an excellent springboard to build a better understanding and appreciation among Filipinos of ethnic, racial and religious diversity in the country. This event brings mallgoers of The Block, SM City North EDSA closer to the richness of the cultural heritage of Muslims in the Philippines that lays strong foundations for stronger social, economic and cultural partnership between Muslims and non-Muslims, create a positive environment of mutual trust and confidence among Muslims and non-Muslims and, provide an attraction for tourist arrivals from the Islamic countries who go on vacation during the Eid’l Fitr.

The Starbucks 2011 Planner

November is the best time of the year to get a planner. Plan your life 2 months ahead for the coming year. Make sure you plan it well and organized, especially the out of town vacays and extra important occays you’ll attend.

Belle de Jour is my personal favorite. There’s Design Your Life planner sold at Multiply. A lot were sold on bookstores. Some schools also have their very own academe planner versions. There’s a couple available at Coffee shops that comes free after indulging yourself to cups of coffee.

One of the much awaited coffee Planners is the Starbucks planner. Starbucks Planner 2011 is a pretty good choice for a planner. But it’s quite hard to own one, at least for me. One needs to collect a number of stickers that goes with every cup purchase to avail the planner.

The planners are out today at any Starbucks Branch. The limited edition Starbucks Coffee 2011 Planner comes in five color themes.  With just 17 stickers to collect, your very own planner is yours to keep.

Easy A: Let's not and say we did

When this trailer was posted on my FB wall with the message, "look at Amanda Bynes", I quickly hit the play to see what the story is all about. I am a fan of Amanda Bynes. I love her movies: What a girl wants, She's the Man, Sydney White, etc. I thought she got the lead role in this movie, but this time she's playing something different from her old roles.

Easy A is a movie about a High School girl--Olive--that turned her boring school life to excitement the day when she told a little white lie  about losing her virginity to help out her gay friend.

After the LIE, lot's of the school's underground gays wanted Olive's help. Though Olive's intentions are noble, people from the school started hating and judging her. As a means to cope with the rumor mill (inspired by Nathanial Hawthorn's Scarlet Letter and peer suggestion), Olive embroiders a red "A" on her entire wardrobe.

STORY OF BDJ

It all started with a search for the perfect planner. The year 2006 was about to start and I wanted to be able to manage my life - be more organized, do more things, be clearer with what I wanted to do with my life. Yet, despite searching bookstore to bookstore, no planner could satisfy my idea of the perfect planner. Thus, as a last resort, I designed my own planner. I followed some time management principles I read up on and personalized the layout. I even included my favorite illustrations and poems/articles in the planner. After I finished the design and the content, I printed out the planner and had it bound. I was really happy with my planner.

My friends then started noticing my planner, complimented me on it, and suggested that I mass produce it, with some tweaking of course! My planner was extremely OC, with more time management frameworks. I decided to make a business out of it then the ideas came from my closest friends and mentors. I asked some of my closest friends to join me in the business, each bringing something unique that complement all of our talents. And there you go, we had Belle de Jour Enterprises. Until we started selling did we only realize we had a great product! It was really exciting getting orders and hearing from our customers about how much they love the planner.

Now, because of all the excitement and buzz around the product, we just had to extend the Belle de Jour power planner online. We envision creating a community for you that's also made up of you - the fashionista achievers, the stylish go-getters, or better yet - the Belle de Jour girls.
