Pilipinas Kay Ganda--if translated to English it means Philippines so Beautiful. Honestly, it wasn't a knockout slogan BUT it can work. Actually, I have units in translation and we learned there that people from other countries love our, MAHAL KITA because no other country can find a word that can level to KITA... because in KITA, I and You was combined. Not even english can find a word for it. They can't match it... LOVE WE? No, I and You forms KITA-- making MAHAL KITA, I LOVE YOU in English.

It's the same with Pilipinas Kay Ganda it's not as knockout as the MAHAL kita but we can do something about it. Perhaps, 8th time Champion and Congressman Manny Pacquiao can do wonders and magic for it.

DOT says they are just testing if the slogan will work. But i don't think it will continue anymore, Filipinos are truly killers of themselves. Instead of fighting and being proud of the slogan and even if we let the slogan slip and let  alone the pride for our Language be rewarded, a lot has been said and Filipinos have criticized it too much already. Plus, it has a lot of issues too:

Actually, If I were to make a poster/ad for Pilipinas kay Ganda, it would be:

  1. Manny Paquiao with a Gold belt embossed Pilipinas Kay Gganda.
  2. A collage of all the tourist spots in the Philippines with beautiful Filipinas in Costumes. Example: A pretty Ifugao women in native costume behind the Banaue Rice terraces.
  3. Lea Salonga, Charice Pempengco, Jasmin Trias, Bruno Mars, Billy Crawford, APL de AP and all the other Filipinos[half or whole] Popular around the world photographed behind the Pilipinas Kay Ganda Logo.

My main point is it doesn't have to be changed. Let's be proud of our Language. Let's believe and prove that Philippines is really "so beautiful".

This is not a Religion biased blog...

To all my Muslim brothers and sisters
Happy Eid ul-Fitr!!!
From wikipedia:
Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr‎), often abbreviated to Eid, is a three-day Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamicholy month of fasting (sawm). Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "conclusion of the fast"; and so the holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal.
Eid-ul-Fitr Salat (Namaz in Urdu/Persian) is a Wajib (strongly recommended, just short of obligatory) or mandoob (preferable) – depending on which juristic opinion is followed – Islamic prayer consisting of two raka'ah (units)[1] which is generally offered in an open field or large hall called an Eed-gah. This salaat or prayer, can only be performed with Jama’at (i.e., in congregation) and has an additional extra six Takbirs(raising of the hands to the ears while saying Allahu Akbar (God is Great), three of them in the beginning of the first raka'ah and three of them just before ruku' in the second raka'ah in the Hanafi school.[2] Eid ul-Fitr is sometimes also known as the "Smaller Eid" (Arabic: العيد الصغيرal-‘īdu ṣ-ṣaghīr‎) as compared to the Eid al-Adha, which lasts four days following the Hajj and is casually referred to as the "Greater Eid" (Arabic: العيد الكبير al-‘īdu l-kabīr‎). Although in Southeast Asian countries, Eid-ul-Fitr is considered "greater" than Eid al-Adha and is the most important feast for Muslims there. Muslims are commanded by God in the Qur'an to complete their fast on the last day of Ramadan.

The Lastest KFC Craze

KFC Double down is KFC's latest baby.

The Double Down contains bacon, mayo, and cheese squeeze in between two pieces of chicken fillets in KFC's original chicken flavor.

Price:
  • 100php Ala Carte
  • 110php Ala Carte via delivery
  • 115php with drinks
  • 135php with drinks and Fixin/Fries

A lot of people are crazy about this. They all want it. Why? Because, most of the time, it's not available or sold out. And not just on one branch.... I tried looking for it in Trinoma and SM North Edsa but as expected it wasn't available and ended up buying a go-go sandwich. My brother said that it's not available even on delivery so he just ordered a Twister.

Genius is that person thinking for KFC. I'm smelling marketing strategy here:
1. If the double down is not available, the buyer will just order for something else.
2. But will still visit the food chain the next day and end up doing #1
3. If number 1 happens, the buyer will rave about not having the double down on his/her fb, twitter, etc. making everyone else crave about it.
4. If the buyer successfully purchased a double down, he/she announce it to the whole world... making the whole world want to taste the same thing.

I haven't tasted the double down yet. But i'll try it one day, when the time comes that it easily gets available. I'll probably eat it with rice or take it home and add some buns.

Chrismassy Soundtrack

I advance think everything. I tend to imagine things 6 months or so before it happens. I begin planning my birthday on January but the real party comes June. And after my birthday, the next big event I anticipate is the Christmas.

How long 'till Christmas?
My countdown says it's 41 days.

A month and a couple of days. Right? It's nearing. I haven't accomplished Christmas wishlist, Christmas gift list, Christmas menu and everything else about Christmas.

The only thing that I organized was my Christmas Playlist:

1. Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Mandy Moore and Usher

2. Oh Holy Night - Westlife

3. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Jon Bon Jovi

4. Christmas Medley - a1

5. All I Want For Christmas Is You -  Mariah Carey

6. Last Christmas - Taylor Swift

7. My Only Wish (This Year)- Britney Spears

8. Where Are You Christmas - Faith Hill

9. Jingle Bell Rock - Mean Girls

10. Yule Shoot Your Eye Out

11. Sana Ngayong Pasko - Ariel Rivera

12. Hosanna Ngayong Pasko - Parokya ni Edgay with Ely Buendia

13. Sa Araw ng Pasko - All Star Cast

14. Pasko sa Pinas - Yeng Constantino

15. Tuloy na Tuloy Pa Rin ang Pasko - Regine Velasquez

Advance Merry Christmas Everyone!

Winning the Lottery

Grand Lotto 6/55 is introduced in April 2010, the most recent addition to the lotto categories. As the name states, a six-number combination is chosen from 1 to 55. To win a prize, at least three of one's chosen numbers must match with to those of the six winning numbers.

The odds of getting all six winning numbers, and hitting the winning jackpot combination, are 1 in 28,989,675. The Grand Lotto draw is held every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. In playing a combination in this game, one has to pay P20 for each combination bet.

~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~

I’m not one of those people who are patronizing the lottery. But when the winning prize hits millions (of millions… like 100M++), I make it a point to bet at least one combination. I’m not always lucky… but I can gamble my belief in my luck too.

When a friend of my asked me what I’ll do if I ever won a jackpot in the lottery, I told her:

  1. I’ll give half of my winnings to my parents(they’ll decide how much to give my brothers)
  2. I’ll give my each of my first cousin a million(Kuya Jeff, Jojo, Joebert, Joshua, Christine, Clarice, Chelcy, Tristan, Dianne, Julianne and Marco... so that's 11 million)

I still don’t know what to do with the rest of the millions… But I’d like to franchise a food chain [Jollibee] and open two branches, here and in Singapore. I think I’ll also buy a Cherry Red Ferrari[I've been drooling about it all my lifetime]. And also, buy some stocks [is that how you call it when you want a share? =P] of my favorite online game.

UPOU Journey

When I attended the UP Open University orientation last Saturday, I told myself that THIS IS IT and no more excuses nor turning backs.

Don’t get me wrong, I love studying. I have good credentials during my pre-grad school years. To note, I finished college for three years.

It’s just sometimes I fear the traditional classroom set up, especially now that I’m working. My work is not as hard as it sounds. We are usually busy during the production period and during the off season; we just wait for whatever other tasks to be done: Shoots, AVP’s for school, products, etc. Bottom line, it’s busy like a bee on busy days.

As I was saying, I fear the traditional classroom set up because of the amount of time it demands. I don’t enjoy the surprises that go with it: exams, recitations, etc. I don’t like it when a professor asks a student for an insight then humiliates and contradicts the student afterwards—Hey, it’s an insight! The other things that I didn’t like about the traditional classroom is the effort a student need to go to school, deal with classmates and the money to be spent on too much requirements. (Also, since I consider myself as an environmentalist, we should also think of the trees that can be saved from the papers we use at school).

Those we’re the reasons why I ended up in the UP Open University. I'm still adjusting with this kind of education environment. Believe me, reading the modules is one of the challenging things in distance education--you really have to give time and an open mind for in studying the modules. A lot of discipline is also needed to keep you track.

This distance education thing is really hard, harder than I expected it to be... I know I'll get used to it. I just KNOW.

Hayden™: A New Fragrance Story

Hayden Kho, Jr. is popularly known as the boyfriend of Vicki Belo and the man behind the famous Video Scandals.

But let’s not talk about the past… at least, just this once. Let's Talk About Hayden and Hayden™ perfume from Paris.

Last October 22, 2010, Hayden Kho launched of his new perfume line. He introduced 13 different fragrance that the were all developed in Paris.

But Why did Hayden ventured into perfume-making business?
When I was in med school, I read a scientific study that fragrance is linked to emotions. I became intrigued and I wanted to know why,” he said. He added that at that time, however, the idea took a backseat due to his studies, and medical and showbiz careers.  What I wanted to do was to find a new inspiration. I wanted something that could excite me, something very special. I wanted a fragrance like that... I guess when I couldn't find it, I decided to make it myself.

The Rise of Hayden™
Hayden™ is a collection of extraordinary fragrances created in collaboration with top perfumers in Paris, formulated to last longer in warmer climates. With its unique scent, elegant packaging and thoughtful presentation, each Hayden™ fragrance is an exceptional way to make your own personal statement, as well as the perfect pleasure to give or receive.
Amber Woods & Rose Petals
Hayden's favorite for this first collection. An exclusive, luxurious and rejuvenating scent, comprised of healing patchouli plus earthy vetiver and solid orris. Fresh bergamot, elegant lavender and sage blend harmoniously. Be sincere, self-assured, successful.

Lemon & Nutmeg
ROMANCE: The intensely attractive fragrance of nutmeg derived from the European mountain valley flower, geranium, is tempered with the sweet, citrus smell of fresh, clean lemon. Both combine for a delightfully romantic fragrance that is honest, natural and light yet lasting.

Spice Musk & Grapefruit
BOLD & SEXY: The reasonably excessive white musky fragrance, steeped in warm herbs, spices and mysterious unguents, is married with the whisper-soft citrus notes of cool grapefruit and some floral notes, giving it a subtle but highly attractive quality. The quietly seductive fragrance gives one license to play with the rules of polite washed society without truly trespassing them.

Wild Woods & Mandarin
CLASSIC, ELEGANT: This scent has the subtle and transparent sensuality of sandalwood, depicting power and success, but also has a streak of calming mandarin that elegantly whispers, “remember me”. The refined yet youthful fragrance is relaxing, even reassuring, yet bold at the same time.

Black Leather & Orris
STYLE & FASHION: Embodies a sensitive spiritual soul with a fashionable, creative and edgy exterior. A warm luxurious leather fragrance wrapped in the mysterious scent of orris and green floral notes. Both bold and alluring, the fragrance is spirited and epitomizes hedonism and furiously unmade bed sheets.

Ocean Breeze & Sandalwood
SPORTY & ACTIVE: Stands out for a confident “sense of self” – pure, clean, unabashed and extremely active. It plays out the theme of a fresh breeze combined with jasmine blossom which always feels juvenile. It manages to draw on the combined power of energy and pleasant fragrance to make active days memorable.
Bergamot & CaloneSIMPLICITY: The scent has an interesting opening of different citrus variants but still possesses distinctly soothing orange Bergamot with tinges of warm floral nuances. It is a solid, quietly confident fragrance that announces your presence without calling attention to you.

Cherry Blossoms & Vanilla Pod
ROMANCE: This warm, gauzy fragrance is filled with floralcy accents of violet and iris. Tempting ylang and dulcet rose tones brush through your senses with femininity. The sheer hint of passion fruit and bergamot laced with a rich base of musk and amber make the sweetness of vanilla just enough to inspire the right emotions.

Charming Orchid & Violet
BOLD & SEXY: The first whiff of the fruity mix of apple, melon and grapefruit is unmistakably captivating. Sultry sandalwood, amber and smooth mandarin twist some spice in. Charmingly, zests of bergamot and muguet plaited with sensuous jasmin rose violet, sandalwood, and amber heighten the senses... even of those around you.

Green Tea & Peony
CLASSIC, ELEGANT: Chic and timeless, the scent opens with a unique blend of tea, bergamot, bamboo and pear for a subtle, unmistakably luxurious feel. Blends of classy peony with muguet and violet leaf add just enough polish for one to warrant a second glance while the musk and woods base evokes effortless confidence.

Pink Pepper & Cashmere
STYLE & FASHION: This alluring scent starts with a glossy mix of charming mandarin, pink pepper, spicy clove and ethereal cardamom. Delicate notes of violet and magnolia sway in for mystique and charisma during the day. On luxurious evenings, glittering notes of sandalwood, vetiver, cedarwood, tonka bean, amber and cashmere set one apart from the madding crowd.

Luscious Lily & Apple
SPORTY & ACTIVE: A certain sense of insouciance and joie de vivre is imbibed in this brilliant blend of apple, crisp cassis, sweet peach, precious jasmin and fresh rose. Subtle hints of earthy muguet, clever sandalwood, fresh cedarwood, amber, and a dash of musk surround you with vital energy, bringing all senses to life.

Blushing Berry & Lotus
SIMPLICITY: A world without pretensions opens up with this fruity blend of guava, comforting blackcurrant and fresh apple. Blends of jasmin and lotus flow together seamlessly, tinting your mood with a genuine lift. Harmonious notes of amber, cedarwood and musk make each moment comfortably genuine.

Take out Hayden's scandal out of the picture. Close your eyes, spray, smell and see within. Believe in giving chances... why not give this PERFUME a chance?

So Remember Me One Day as Kind

When I die, I want people to remember me as kind. It hasn’t always been that way. Four years ago, I was a very different person, a wounded...
