About Philippine Fashion Week
1987, Joey left freelance directing to start Runway Productions, an events company involved with the fashion and lifestyle industries. He continued in his role as model-maker, working for Ford Supermodel of the World Philippines from 1987 to 1993 and partnering with Asian modeling network giant Carrie Models to establish Cal Carrie’s International Models Philippines Inc, in 1994. Through CalCarrie’s Philippines, Asia’s brightest stars to include Teresa Herrera, Sonia Couling, Sarah Meier were born.
Under Runway Productions, the Espino brothers not only produce Philippine Fashion Week but also reeled in Ford Models’ Supermodel of the World Philippines in 1999 as their modeling competition property. This enabled them to discover local talents who has the potential to be at par with the worlds best through the annual competition celebrating its 13th year this year. The Ford Models Supermodel of the World Philippines has discovered the like of Charo Ronquillo and Charlene “Chat” Almarvez who has appeared on the pages of Vogue US, Vogue China, V Magazine, Teen Vogue, Glamour Magazine, while gracing the runways of prestigious brands & designers Nanette Lepore, Halston, Diane Von Furstenberg, La Coste, Tracy Reese, Peter Som, and Port’s. Today Runway Productions vision of putting the Philippines on the global modeling map is now a reality.
As a training ground to prepare more models for the advancement in the local fashion scene brought on by PFW, the Espino brothers created Master School for Models where local talents can learn the training skills needed to survive in the fast paced world of fashion, providing introductory, basic training and advanced programs for both aspiring and experienced models who would like to further excel their careers.
